Hi! We are your 2015-16 State Officer Team! We are so excited to be representing you, our members, this coming year. Here's an introduction to our TSA journeys.
I'm a junior at Mountlake Terrace High School and I joined TSA when I was in 7th grade because I was encouraged by my Sci-Ma-Tech teacher. I've continued to participate in TSA for the past 5 years because I love meeting new people at state and national conferences and competing in events such as career prep, debating technological issues, and structural engineering. TSA has also given me valuable leadership experience by being a chapter officer for 4 years as well as serving on the state officer team at Reporter, Vice President, and currently as your WTSA President. Through events like career prep I've discovered my passion for science and have realized I want to pursue a career in the biotechnology field after high school. One fun fact about me is that I love puns. What do you call an alligator in a vest? An investigator.
I've been a TSA member for 4 years, I'm from Fife High School, and I've been elected as your next Vice President. TSA has granted me numerous skills and opportunities, broadening my horizons as a student. Initially, I joined for the TSA-VEX Robotics competition, but with my time I've picked up skills placing at the state and national level in Video Production, Career Preparation, Animatronics, Tech Bowl, and more. As I finish my junior year, I wouldn't know where I would be without TSA. This organization has shaped my path, and I'm excited to enter this year as a state officer. One fun fact about me is my family now owns a restaurant, and I'm looking forward to work as waiter.
I'm a sophomore at Fife High School down near Tacoma. I have been in TSA for 2 years and have experienced many interesting things through the years. Currently I am your Secretary and I am looking forward to get involved with all of you. TSA have impacted me by helping me solve complicated problems and increase my knowledge in the technical world. I got started with TSA when my adviser introduced me to this wonderful organization. By being in TSA I have learned how to create new ideas each day. One fact about me is I have five cat sweaters.
I'm a junior at Burlington-Edison High School. I have been in TSA for 3 years and I am currently your WTSA State Treasurer. I joined TSA because I was always interested in engineering and at my freshman orientation at my school I saw the TSA booth and I saw their VEX robot and I was immediately sold. TSA has allowed me to become a better leader and has gotten me out of my comfort zone. It has also helped to prepare me for my future by giving me experience I may need later in life. Some of these include leadership skills, teamwork, and speaking skills. One fun fact about me is that I have been to Disneyland 10 times in 11 years.
Hello, I'm a junior at Henry M. Jackson High School and I'm grateful for the opportunity to become a Washington TSA state officer this upcoming 2015-2016 school year. I initially joined TSA because of a desire to have a fun extracurricular to do after school, and a few of my friends recommended joining TSA. And by all means I was impressed. As a chapter officer and now a state officer, I have learned that TSA is an opportunity to foster new friendships, participate in healthy competition, and nurture an understanding of future career options. I can undoubtedly say that I now inspire to work in the STEM field and become a technological forerunner of the future. Other than that, a fun fact about me is that my favorite ice cream flavor is pistachio.
Hi! I'm Nadia Smith, and I'm a sophomore from Goldendale High School. I've been in TSA for 2 years, and am currently your sergeant-at-arms. I first got involved with TSA when I started the robotics course at my school. My teacher suggested joining TSA to attend the state conference for the robotics tournament, and we ended up going. I also competed in extemporaneous speech there and became completely hooked. After that, I decided I wanted to be a part of TSA full time. TSA is great because it is an organization that can help students prepare for future careers and real world problems. In the past year, I have expanded my events to include prepared presentation, future tech teacher, and video on-demand. TSA has helped me to better my public speaking skills, helped me improve my leadership skills, helped me to stay on top of public issues, and meet amazing people. I do really love TSA! A fun fact about me: I'm half Canadian!
We're excited to be your new officers!!
