Description

Participants research, design, and create a portfolio and wearable prototype that reflect the theme for the year, which can be found on Themes and Problems. Semifinalist teams participate in a presentation/interview in which they present their garment designs to judges.

2025-26 Theme

Villain Era with one element of the main garment being 3-D printed.

Teams will submit one (1) or two (2) garments for judging (top and bottom or one [1]-piece.) All required components must fit inside a 32-quart plastic container. Any accessories (hats, gloves, boots, etc.) may be used during semifinalist presentations, however, they are not submitted in the preliminary round.

Event Deadlines

 

January 22, 2026

Students will need their Participant ID number, and password, from their advisor. Only the team captain will be able to upload the file.

Students submit documentation portfolio and pattern drafts (pages with drawing of patterns, with measurements) for scoring.

April 2026

Students will submit final portfolio plus garments on Wednesday evening.

ALL teams should submit a typed paragraph about their design, including student names and roles on the team, that will be read while they are modeling.

A semifinalist list will be posted on Thursday afternoon. Semifinalists will retrieve their garment(s), and wear them to their presentation/interview.

All entries (whether they make semifinals or not) will participate in a runway show on Thursday evening at State.

 

Washington TSA Rules

To compete, students must:

  • Belong to a currently affiliated TSA chapter

  • Be registered (by their TSA advisor) for competition by December 19, 2025 ($35)

  • Compete in the January 22, 2026 virtual competition (see individual event pages for details)

  • Be selected as a top competitor in their event(s) and invited to participate at State

    • Number of competitors is dependent on specific event

    • Qualifying competitor lists will be published by February 8, 2026

    • State Conference registration week February 23-27, 2026 (see state conference page for details)

At the state level, 3 teams per chapter may compete.
