Description
Participants use digital art and design skills in the production of conceptual art and portfolio that reflects the theme for the year.
2026-27 Theme
Technology Democracy is a citizen group with a goal of encouraging public conversation about the impact of technology on American life. They run highly visible advertisements with both video and still images.
To jumpstart that public conversation about Artificial Intelligence in their public service campaign, they would like you to create a characterization of “twins" that show both the positive and negative of AI. It’s understood that positive might be the good twin and negative might be the bad. But Technology Democracy wants your creative work to reflect that the choices are not always so black and white. What is very good for one person or group might be very bad for another.

Event Deadlines
January 21, 2027
Students will need their Participant ID number, and password, from their advisor.
Students will submit their portfolio. Students will be scored on items a-e of the documentation portfolio, including mood boards and rough sketches of the device.
Washington TSA Rules
To compete, students must:
Belong to a currently affiliated TSA chapter
Be registered (by their TSA advisor) for competition by December 18, 2026 ($35)
Compete in the January 21, 2027 virtual competition (see individual event pages for details)
Be selected as a top competitor in their event(s) and invited to participate at State
Number of competitors is dependent on specific event
Qualifying competitor lists will be published by February 7, 2027
State Conference registration week February 22-26, 2027 (see state conference page for details)
At the state level, 3 individuals per chapter may compete.
