Description
Applying leadership and 21st century skills, participants use digital video technology to create original content around a pre-determined technology theme. Vlogging encourages good storytelling, videography, and editing techniques to create a coherent series of creative work.
Semifinalists complete in on-site challenge to produce additional video(s). Required criteria, such as props, lines of dialog, topics, etc. will be revealed at the semifinalists orientation meeting.
2026-27 Theme: The Butterfly Effect
Small actions can create extraordinary change.
Create a three-episode vlog series, not to exceed six minutes total, that explores how one decision, act of kindness, innovation, challenge, or moment can lead to a chain of events that produces a meaningful impact. Your vlog should demonstrate how seemingly small actions can inspire growth, influence others, and create lasting change.
Your series should follow a connected storyline across all three episodes, capturing authentic experiences, thoughtful reflection, and engaging storytelling. Through creative videography, editing, and presentation, illustrate how one small action can spark a ripple effect that extends far beyond its original moment.

Event Deadlines
January 21, 2027
Students will need their Participant ID number, and password, from their advisor. Only the team captain will be able to upload the file.
Students will upload vlogs to a platform of their choice which allows for a playlist feature, and submit the URL for their playlist.
Students must have 2 of the 3 vlog episodes available on the playlist for judging.
NOTE: Students may make changes to vlogs after January judging is complete.

Vlogs and portfolios are due by 5:00 pm on March 18!
Washington TSA Rules
To compete, students must:
Belong to a currently affiliated TSA chapter
Be registered (by their TSA advisor) for competition by December 18, 2026 ($35)
Compete in the January 21, 2027 virtual competition (see individual event pages for details)
Be selected as a top competitor in their event(s) and invited to participate at State
Number of competitors is dependent on specific event
Qualifying competitor lists will be published by February 7, 2027
State Conference registration week February 22-26, 2027 (see state conference page for details)
At the state level, 3 teams of 2-6 students per chapter may compete.
