Description
Participants deliver an oral presentation, using a digital slide deck, on an annual topic. New semifinal round will provide new 24 hour topic for semifinalists.
2026-27 Theme: Many technologies begin as science fiction before becoming reality. Choose one technology that was once considered futuristic and is now used today. Describe its development, current applications, and how it may continue to evolve in the future.

Event Deadlines
January 21, 2027
Students will need their Participant ID number, and password, from their advisor.
Using the prompt above, students submit their slide deck (minimum of 5 slides). Slide deck can be uploaded as a pdf, or students can provide a link to a slide presentation.
April 2027
Students will sign up Wednesday night for a time slot for their live presentation.
NOTE:
This event WILL have a semifinal round at State. Students will be given a new topic, and will have 24 hours to create 3 slides and a presentation
Washington TSA Rules
To compete, students must:
Belong to a currently affiliated TSA chapter
Be registered (by their TSA advisor) for competition by December 18, 2026 ($35)
Compete in the January 21, 2027 virtual competition (see individual event pages for details)
Be selected as a top competitor in their event(s) and invited to participate at State
Number of competitors is dependent on specific event
Qualifying competitor lists will be published by February 7, 2027
State Conference registration week February 22-26, 2027 (see state conference page for details)
At the state level, 2 individuals per chapter may compete.
